Who are the Friends of Rock Creek Station?
Our Mission
We are a nonprofit foundation created to promote and support Rock Creek Station State Historical Park through fundraising and sponsorship of educational activities and sponsorship of educational activities at this historical location.
Friends of Rock Creek Station was created by a group of individuals who cherish the history and beauty of Rock Creek Station State Historical Park. Aware that funding for state parks and other public programs is often diminished as other demands are made on government budgets, this 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit foundations was developed.
The Foundations is operated by an elected Board of Directors with the Park Superintendent serving as an ex-officio member.
Visitor Center Circle
One of our projects is creating an Outdoor Education area at the Visitor Center. The circle now features a covered wagon pulled by life-sized bronze oxen to memorialize the livestock and pioneers who carved the trail. Plans include adding paved walkways and information on native plants and animals.
